Finding ways to provide a quality music education in primary schools
a conference sponsored by
JOHN LYON’S CHARITY
to be held at
Wigmore Hall
36 Wigmore Street, London, W1U 2BP
on Wednesday, 10th June 2009
9am – 2pm
- What does “primary music” mean today?
- Engaging children and schools in musical opportunities: how do we make it happen? How do we make it consequential?
- Is it any good? How do we ensure the quality of music programmes offered to schools?
John Lyon’s Charity is hosting a free conference to consider the nature of primary music education today and how primary schools can access and assess the wide range of music projects, schemes and initiatives that have been developed to help them deliver a meaningful music curriculum. Delegates are invited to share their experiences of high quality, stimulating music projects, to learn how they can enhance and support the work of the classroom teacher and how these projects can inspire and engage young people, irrelevant of background or ability, in all aspects of their learning.
Invitees will include primary school head teachers, music and arts practitioners, representatives from central and local government and other funders.
