Within the broad categories above, certain types of schemes have been preferred, for example:

• Bursaries and allowances for education and training
• Youth clubs, sports and holiday playschemes
• Counselling projects which are properly structured
• Pioneering child care and parental support schemes
• Youth arts
• Partnership projects with the local authorities

Support has not been limited to the disadvantaged. There has been an equal concern to encourage talent and 'enable the enabled'.
