We give grants in the following Programme Areas:
Children & Families
- Activities for children aged 0-10 years outside the formal school setting
- Services that provide support to families
- Support for childcare provision
Education & Learning
- Projects that happen within state schools in the Charity's beneficial area including colleges of Further Education
- Supplementary schools
- Structured learning outside the school day
- Projects that increase parental engagement in education and learning
Training
- Basic, vocational and IT skills
- ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
- Apprenticeships
- Mentoring programmes
Arts in Education
- Projects should seek to engage the hardest to reach in effective programmes
- Arts activities within schools should leave a legacy in the school
- Arts projects should increase the confidence of teachers to deliver Arts projects
Youth Clubs & Youth Activities
- Activities for young people aged 11+ outside the school setting (except educational activities)
- Generic work in youth clubs
Youth Issues
- Projects that raise awareness amongst young people about issues that may affect them
Special Needs & Disability
- Family support
- Education and learning
- Activities that take place within special and mainstream schools
- Activities that take place outside special and mainstream schools
Sport
- Promotion of access and participation in sport
- Focussed work with specific target groups
- Nurturing talent and creating realistic pathways to elite status
Emotional Wellbeing
- Must be delivered by qualified practitioners
- In a dedicated setting or within a school
Bursaries
The Charity will support bursaries for young people to attend Harrow School, The John Lyon School, independent girls' schools and specialist arts institutions that are in the beneficial area. Eligible bursary holders must live in the beneficial area and not be able to access these institutions without financial assistance.
Bursaries are not awarded to individuals.

Access to Opportunity
Schools are encouraged to apply to the Charity under the Access to Opportunity Grants Programme. The Programme encourages schools to work in partnership to support their most vulnerable students. Grants can cover salary costs, coordination, project costs or a combination of all three. Grants are assessed as in the Main Grants Programme.
